Hello St. Paul’s! Lots coming up over the next few weeks. Here are the highlights…

 

This Sunday we welcome Rev. Tony Boonstra, a retired minister in the Presbyterian Church of Canada, serving congregations in Quebec, B.C., Alberta, and Ontario.  We also welcome guest organist Damien Macedo who will be filling in for Brad on Sundays and for choir practices over the next few weeks. Damien graduated from St. Michael’s Choir School in Toronto. Be sure to check out a special insert in this Sunday’s bulletin from the ‘Creative Community Space’ Ad Hoc committee with updates about their progress on investigating how we can enhance our worship space to maximize accessibility and versatility.

 

Rev Gerry is away from September 12 to 22. Pastoral care emergency contact information is available of the church answering machine.

 

Unit 5 is making Christmas Puddings on Monday the 18th. A limited number will be available for sale so be sure to get your order in before they are all gone! A sign-up sheet will be posted in the Fellowship Hall in the coming Sundays.

 

St. Paul’s Quilters and Knitters are back! Quilters meet Monday and Tuesday mornings. Knitters meet on Monday mornings. New people are always welcome to join! Bring your knitting projects or come and help with some hand quilting.  

 

Shuffleboard has started a new season - Tuesday afternoons at 1:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. The next couple of Tuesdays will be busy with UCW Rally prep and the Rummage Sale so the next Shuffleboard session will be on October 3rd if you want to come join the fun! Experience not required. Sense of humor recommended!

 

The Casserole Patrol is on the move again! Thanks to Carl & Barbara Whitehouse for volunteering to make the deliveries on September 20th and to Carolina Suites for preparing the cabbage roll casseroles. If you know someone who might enjoy a friendly visit and casserole delivery in October contact Pat 613-267-4149.

 

The UCW Fall Rally will be taking place on Wednesday the 20th with Bethel UCW hosting and St. Paul’s providing the space. The west wing of the church will be a buzz of activities all day. A Fair Trade sale table will be set up in the Gathering room with a variety of products available for purchase, cash only please.  

 

Y&R will get together on September 23rd at 6:00pm at Ted and Kathryn Glugosh’s house for a potluck dinner. All members of the congregation are welcome! RSVP to Kathryn 613-267-1698. Come with ideas for activity planning over the next 10 months and don’t forget to bring your own dishes and utensils!

 

The Fall Mom to Mom Sale is just around the corner on Saturday the 23rd . Doors open at 8:00am. A few tables are still available for rent. Contact Kathryn to book a spot 613-267-1698. Set up for vendors will take place on Friday afternoon.

 

A UCW Bake Sale will be happening in the chapel during the Mom to Mom Sale on the 23rd. Donations of baking would be very much appreciated and can be dropped off Friday afternoon or early Saturday morning before the sale starts. If you are not a baker you can still support the sale by stopping in and buying some delicious homemade treats!

 

The Blessing of the Animals Service will take place at Conlon Farm this year on Sunday, September 24th at 10:00am. Bring a lawn chair and picnic lunch to enjoy after the service. All manner of furry, four legged and feathered friends are welcome and if you don’t have a pet that’s ok, you can still join us for a beautiful outdoor service as we celebrate the Season of Creation.

 

The Spirit Fall Newsletter is now in the works. The deadline for submissions is September 27th. This is a great opportunity to advertise your upcoming events and activities or recruit volunteers for your team or special projects. Pictures of life at St. Paul’s are welcome. Send a snapshot or two of your group or fellow members in action! Distribution is planned for Thanksgiving Sunday. Help us save on printing costs and view it electronically.

 

The UCW Fall Rummage Sale preparations will begin with donations accepted on Tuesday the 26th and Wednesday the 27th . The sale will take place on Thursday the 28th from 9:00am to 2:00pm and Friday the 29th from 9:00am to noon. A volunteer sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board.  


The Bells of St. Paul’s will be back for a return engagement at The Perth Farmers' Market on September 30th at 10 AM to add a taste of the “ethereal” to the always bustling and delightful 'Saturday morning at the market'. Twelve ringers will not only be playing three-plus octaves of English handbells but also ringing the glorious new Chimes that were purchased this summer.

Anniversary Dinner: Sunday, October 29th at the Perth Legion. Social time at 5:00pm and dinner at 6:00pm with special entertainment arranged by Brad. Salad, roast beef and homemade pie. $25 per person. Reduced pricing for children.  Tickets available for purchase on October 2.
